As a general rule, the best way for you to improve your athletic performance is to build physical strength. Since determination is the most important component to becoming a good athlete, in order to reach your full potential in your sport, and as an individual, it is important to set goals with which you are comfortable.
Improve
your skills, adapt to new techniques, and harness new technology. It all adds
up to one reality – you CAN become a better athlete!
Getting
yourself into good physical condition should be a top priority of every
military athlete. Here’s how you can get started.
1. Make Your Goals
Setting
long-term goals is a proven way to stay motivated and become a better athlete.
Not only can you identify what it is you’re trying to improve and take
responsibility for making it happen, but you can use long-term goals as
motivation throughout training and races.
2. Take a Good Diet
It’s
never easy to make dietary changes, but the effort is well worth it.
At first,
making dietary changes can be tough, but the effort is well worth it. Start by
cutting back on the unhealthy stuff. Then, try introducing more fruits,
vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein into your diet.
3. Make Fundamentals
Push
yourself to work hard and build a solid foundation. Focus on fitness
fundamentals before progressing to more intense training methods. It’s easy to
get carried away and not see the results that you want. By mastering the
basics, you can begin to see positive results. On top of that, fundamentals
make training more enjoyable by giving you a basis for progression!
4. Be Consistent
People
say that dedication is important to become a good athlete but, when I was
training, I realized that consistency this is more important.
To be a
good athlete, you must practice more often in order to become faster and more
agile.
5. Improve Core Strength
Many
don’t realize that your core is easily one of the most important muscle groups
in your body. It affects all other muscle groups and keeps your entire body in
balance.
Make core
training a part of your workout routine. Do some ab workouts, burpees, planks,
and more. Mix things up to ensure that every single muscle in your core is
getting the workout it needs.
6. Train Your Brain
Neuro
training will make you better at what you do. The latest studies suggest that
brain activity during mental and physical activities is directly linked.
Improve your cognitive functions through Neuro-training, and see how you can
make short work of your day. Your productivity will increase, and your focus
will be razor sharp. Competition will be left in the dust as you blast through
projects at superhuman speeds.
